What is an Eddy Current Separator?

An eddy current separator is a device that uses a powerful magnetic 

field to separate non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum and copper, 

from other materials. 

This technology is widely used in recycling facilities to improve

the recovery rates of valuable metals and enhance the quality 

of recycled materials.

Eddy Current Separator rotor spins at high speeds, an electric 

current is induced into conducting metals. The induced electric 

current produces a magnetic field, which opposes the field created 

by the rotor, repelling the conducting metals over a pre-positioned 

splitter plate. The remaining materials such as plastics, glass and 

other dry recyclables will simply free-fall over the rotor, sepa-rating 

them from the repelled metals.
